5 Family Friendly Destinations
There’s nothing better than seeing something or somewhere for the first time through your child’s eyes. But sometimes the idea of traveling to a foreign country with kids can be a bit daunting, especially if you’re worried about how you’ll keep them entertained. I’ve compiled a list of five family-friendly destinations that are great for both adults and children of any age. I’ve personally traveled to all of these places and can vouch that no one will get bored!
#1 Riviera Maya, Mexico
This area of Mexico is full of all-inclusive resorts that cater to families – think kids clubs, babysitting and waterslides. There are beaches the kids can play on and delicious food. It’s an easy first international destination given its proximity to the U.S. and usually one of the more economical options given the number of resort options.
#2 London, United Kingdom
The UK is a great first trip if you’re new to traveling to Europe. English (obviously) is spoken but it still feels like a foreign destination. London has some great things your kids will love doing like the London Eye, Harrod’s toy department, Tower of London, the Diana Memorial Playground, or, for the sports-crazed kids, a football (soccer) match. Hop on the train and you can be at the Harry Potter Studio Tour in under an hour.
#3 Nassau, Bahamas
The beaches and clear water of the Bahamas are hard to beat. There are several family friendly resorts in Nassau, including the Atlantis on Paradise Island. They have a kids club, water park, kid-friendly dining options, dolphin and stingray experiences and the largest open-air marine habitat in the world. We were big fans of the Rapids River and the younger kids loved the Jungle Slide.
#4 Mallorca, Spain
Mallorca is full of things to do with kids – waterparks, an aquarium and great beaches. Port de Pollenca on the northern part of the island is a perfect location to bring the entire family. There is a large beach that has a gentle slope and very calm waters, which is ideal for children. If you’re staying at one of the many family-friendly resorts or aparthotels, everything you need is an easy walk away. There are loads of family-friendly restaurants, and nightly entertainment can be found for people of all ages.
#5 Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Another tropical destination, the resort town of Punta Cana is full of family-friendly resorts. You’ll find nice beaches, clear water, as well as awesome snorkeling and hiking in this area of the world. For the more adventurous, you can try horseback riding or ziplining at one of the many nearby aerial adventure parks..
